Minister Gantz visits Washington, D.C., without Prime Minister Netanyahu’s approval.
Vice President Kamala Harris met with Israeli War Cabinet member Benny Gantz on Monday at the White House.
The U.S. vice president said during a speech on Sunday, “Given the immense scale of suffering in Gaza, there must be an immediate cease-fire.” She added that the “threat that Hamas poses to the people of Israel must be eliminated.”
“The vice president will express her concern over the safety of as many as 1.5 million people in Rafah,” w White House official said, adding that Israel has a “right to defend itself in the face of continued Hamas terrorist threats.”
Former military chief of staff Gantz also met with Secretary of State Blinken, National Security Advisor Sullivan, and members of Congress.
